FAQ

What if a parent or student enters an incorrect email at checkout address and didn’t get the receipt?

You can request a receipt copy by emailing help@omella.com.

Can I give a member temporary access?

You can add a member and then remove them from the space or the organization if necessary.

How does the public visibility option work?

Enabling the public view allows the attendee to self-check-in to an event. They can click on the “View” link next to the QR code and click the check-in button in front of a staff member. With this option, staff members do not need a scanning device or access to the Omella account.

How can I manage ticket purchase for an outside guests?

When an outside guest is approved, you can send the student a request to purchase the guest ticket. The request is single use; therefore, once a ticket is purchased using the request link it can’t be used again. You can set a due date and we automatically send reminders before and after the due date.

Who receives payment notifications?

You must be a member of a space to receive payment notifications for pages within the space.

How can I see who hasn’t checked into the event?

The Submission report on the reporting tab tracks check-ins. You can sort by the"check-in" column to view rows that are empty (not checked in). You can also download the report to view the same data in excel.

What's the difference between using the goal in the donation block and in the payment block?

The donation block includes the goal by default because there's often a goal such as a donation. In the payment block, you can add it if there's a specific goal.

Is it necessary to have access to Omella to scan and check in paying attendees at an event?

Yes, to perform the check-in for paying attendees, access to the Omella account is required. Access to the Omella account is crucial to ensure the security and integrity of the check-in process.

Can I add a block with validation?

Yes, to add a block with validation, please contact our support team to validate the desired block via email: help@omella.com

Why do I need to connect my bank?

It’s essential to connect your bank so we can deposit payments into your account. Omella will collect payments and automatically transfer the funds to your bank each week. All financial data is encrypted, secure and has SSL.

What if a student purchased a student and guest ticket and now isn’t bringing a guest?

You can process a full refund then ask the student to purchase a single ticket.

What time does the page activate and end once dates are set?

It will start and end at midnight in the timezone of the user who set the dates.

Is it possible to undo a check-in if a mistake is made?

No, unfortunately, it's not possible to undo a check-in once it's done. Therefore, it's important to be attentive during the process. Make sure all the information is correct before confirming the check-in.

I clicked 'Unsubscribe,' how do I start receiving emails again?

Simply contact us via chat or at help@omella.com, and we will reactivate them for you.

Can I delete the added blocks?

To delete the desired blocks, simply click on the three dots located on the blocks you want to remove and select the "Delete" option.

When can I start collecting payments?

Once you connect your bank information with Stripe, you are ready to start collecting! If you are a high school or collect a large amount of money and have complexity, not to worry - email brett@omella.com to help get set up.

Can a student purchase a student and a guest ticket?

Yes, you can allow a student ticket choice and a student + a guest ticket choice and restrict both to a limit of one.

How do I change the owner of a space?

Go to the member you want to promote in space settings and select “Promote to owner.” The person will need to accept the request.

What if the attendee doesn’t have the digital receipt?

No problem! Just look them up in the Omella report and press check-in!

Can a supporter donate anonymously?

If a donor doesn't enter a name or message, it will appear as anonymous.

Can I create more than one check-in button for different purposes?

Yes, you can create as many check-in buttons as you need. Customize them to accommodate different products, food items, or ticket types.

Is it possible to stop receiving notification emails?

Yes, it is possible. Just click 'unsubscribe' at the bottom of the email, where you can choose whether to unsubscribe from only real-time notifications or all emails from Omella.

Can I use Nested Blocks for all payment options?

Yes, you can use Nested Blocks for all payment options. Simply add the desired blocks for each option in a simple and intuitive way.

Can I start using Omella right away?

Absolutely! You just need to create your account and then connect your bank.

How can I restrict ticket purchase to eligible students?

You can require an access code like Student ID and only load the IDs for eligible students. A code can only be used once to purchase a ticket.

How can I remove a member’s access to a space?

To remove a member, you need to be a space owner. Simply go to the space settings, navigate to 'Members', and remove the member from that space.

Is it possible to change the dates after configuring them?

Yes, the dates can be edited. Simply access the editor and click on 'Edit dates', then select the date you wish to change.

Can the organization restrict check-ins only to administrators?

Yes, it's optional. You can choose to make the check-in button public, allowing payers to check in themselves. Alternatively, you can restrict the button so that only members of the Organization/Space can perform the check-in.

How does Omella keep payment data secure?

Omella uses Stripe’s Elements technology, which has financial input fields that are secured in Stripe's iframe. Payment data, including card numbers, are sent directly to Stripe and never reaches our internal servers. Omella triggers new payments based on the Stripe’s customer identifier and its payment methods. Therefore, Omella does not have any record of the payer’s card number in our database and logs. That means hackers will never get sensitive card or bank information from us.

The transmission between the payers, the Omella page, and Stripe is encrypted using 256bit SSL/TLS. Stripe is one of the most secure and trusted payment providers. It is used by Twitter, Shopify, Kickstarter, and Lyft.

Is Omella PCI Compliant?

Yes, Omella is PCI compliant under "PCI validation: SAQ A". We utilize Stripe Elements technology which has financial input fields that are done securely in Stripe's iframe. Stripe is certified as a PCI Level 1 Service Provider. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry.

Is Omella only for nonprofits?

We service all different types of organizations including nonprofits, small businesses, microschools, high schools, PTO/PTA’s, booster clubs and more.

Is there a monthly fee?

There are no monthly fees or lock in.

How does Omella make money?

By default, Omella is completely free, there are no monthly fees and all transaction fees are optional. That means that your organization can collect $1M online using Omella and keep all $1M. What’s more, we offer all of this without requiring your payers to cover any fees either. So how does Omella make money?

There are 3 ways:

When payers decide to leave an optional tip
If your organization chooses to disable tips, Omella charges your organization a platform fee of $1.99 per transaction
If your organization decides to offer recurring payments, such as annual subscriptions, monthly installments, payment plans, etc…, a recurring fee of 0.5% per transaction is applied to those payments. For example, the recurring fee on a $100 charge would come to 50 cents.

What all of these fees have in common is that they are completely optional. If you, as an organization decide to keep tips enabled and do not offer recurring payments, you will not pay any fees whatsoever. Likewise, your payers always have a free way to pay when they checkout with ACH instead of card.

We think this model is a win-win, allowing us to continue building great software for your organization, who gets to keep more - or all! - of what you collect: the choice is yours.

What types of businesses does Omella support?

Omella supports the following business types for all accounts: individual, company, non-profit, and government entity (the latter is US only).

Can I start using Omella right away?

You will meet with Brett, our founder, first so he can tell you more about Omella. Once you select an appointment date and time, he will send you an email with a link to a Zoom meeting. When you tell Brett you’re ready to go 👌, we will set up your account and explain next steps.

I am interested in using Omella, how do I get started?

Enter your email address on our home page and click the Get Started button. We’ll ask a few questions to get to know you. Once you submit, you’ll be prompted to schedule a meeting with our founder Brett Kopf.
